The excellence of reciting the two last verses of chapter two Fatwa No: 91636
- Fatwa Date:29-3-2006
What is the excellence of reciting the two last verses of Al-Baqarah (chapter two) of the Quran?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Abu Mas'ood Al-Badri narrated that the Prophet said: "Whoever reads the two last verses of Al-Baqarah (Quran, chapter two) in a night it will be sufficient for him." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] The narration is interpreted to mean: "They are sufficient for him [will protect him] from any evil or harm in that night." It is also interpreted to mean: "They are sufficient for him instead of standing in prayer during the night that night."
Allaah Knows best.
