biography of imam assayuti
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Imaam As-Suyooti, is Jalaal Ad-Deen Abu Al-Fadhl 'Abdur-Rahmaan Ibn Kamaal Ad-Deen Abu Bakr Ibn Muhammad Ibn Saabiqud-Deen Abu Bakr Ibn Fakhrud-Deen 'Uthmaan Ibn Naasirud-Deen. He was from Egypt and he was following the Shaafi'ee School of jurisprudence. He used to be nicknamed by "Ibn Al-Kutub".
He was born on a Sunday after sunset at the beginning of Rajab in 849 A.H. He was brought up as an orphan since his father died while he was only 5 years old and seven months. However, Allaah facilitated for him the means by which He made him a legend in the field of knowledge and one of the outstanding scholars.
His father took him to the circle of Ibn Hajar Al-'Asqalaani when he was only 3 years old and he memorized the Quran at the age of eight years.
He started acquiring knowledge since Rabee' Al-Awwal 864, and he studied on the hands of 600 scholars. When he was 40 years old, he secluded and devoted himself to the worship of Allaah and refrained from this world and its people, as if he did not know anyone.
He resided in Al-Miqyaas garden and he did not move from it until he died.
In his last years, he had a severe sickness, which was a tumor in his left arm and he died as a result.
He died before dawn on Thursday night, 19 Jumaadah Al-Uwlaa, 911 A.H. grant him Paradise .
Allaah Knows best.
