The Hadeeth that the majority of people in Paradise are Al-Bulh Fatwa No: 9522
- Fatwa Date:7-3-2012
What is the meaning of the Arabic word Al-Bulh in the Hadeeth in which the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (may Allaah exalt his mention), said that the majority of the people of Paradise are Al-Bulh?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The Hadeeth in question was narrated by Al-Bazzaar on the authority of Anas . Al-‘Ajlooni, ‘Ali Al-Qaari and Al-Albaani judged it to be Dha‘eef (Weak).
There are different meanings of Al-Bulh as pointed out by scholars:
- Sahl At-Tustari : those who are preoccupied with performing Thikr (remembering and mentioning Allaah).
- Ibn Al-Atheer, : those who are preoccupied with the Hereafter to the extent that they are distracted from and ignorant about the matters of this world. It does not refer to insane people.
- Al-Qurtubi : those who do not experience the disobedience of Allaah The Almighty.
Allaah Knows best
