The continued Israeli assault has entered its 18th day of its continued aggression, devastating the public health system and the cost for the civilian population intensified. In the last 24 hours there were a total of more than 50 Palestinians martyred—approximately 42% of whom were women and children and 520 injured. Totals as of 13 January (14:30PM), 971 Palestinians martyred and total injured reached over 4418.
The Ministry of Health demands the Occupation Forces to guarantee a safe passage to evacuate patients and injured within the Gaza Strip to the Rafah border. Currently, the only access available between northern Gaza and the rest of the territory remains possible via the coastal road west of the former settlement of Netzarim and is restricted to humanitarian relief assistance (including ambulances) after coordinating with the Israeli authorities.
Targeting ambulances and medical teams
Israeli forces continued targeting ambulances and medical teams in Gaza, yesterday two paramedics were killed and 17 injured. Seven ambulances were destroyed totally.
Due to the shortage in ambulances, the Ministry of Health has reallocated 10 fully equipped ambulances from the West Bank to Gaza to be transported immediately.
International Humanitarian Law requires all medical personnel and facilities be protected at all times, even during armed conflict. Attacks on them are grave violations of International Humanitarian and Human Rights laws. Access to health is a fundamental human right.
Referrals and evacuations outside Gaza
During the last 24 hours, 38 injured were evacuated through Rafah by Egyptian ambulances; five patients from Egypt will be evacuated to Qatar hospitals.
Medical teams in Gaza
