Question:
I'm a student. I have headache if I doesn't recite Quran and specially the Surah Al-Ghaashiyah (Surah no.88), I have this since last week. When I heard its recitation for the first time I really liked this Surah and started to by-heart it and I'll recite it daily at least 3 times. And now it happens that if I don't recite it then I don't feel of doing any work. Please kindly suggest me what I should do.
Fatwa:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger.
Loving the Quran is a good thing and you will be rewarded for it. The Quran is the Word of Allah and it is the best speech. Loving a specific chapter of the Quran is also a good thing. One of the companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with him, loved chapter Al-Ikhlaas (112), and when he was asked why he loved to read it much in prayer, he replied that it is because it is about one of the Attributes of Allah and he liked reading it. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
So loving chapter Al-Ghaashiyah (88) is a good thing because all the Quran is a cure, Allah says (which means): {And We send down from the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism and act on it), and it increases the polytheists (and wrong-doers) nothing but loss.}[17:82]
However, you do not have to recite it a specific number of times daily, because if you do so, this could be considered as an additional innovation, i.e. to add out of one's own mind a quality, a number or a time to perform an act of worship which was not basically set by the Islamic Law.
Having a headache or being unable to do anything if you do not recite this chapter, might probably be because of suffering from a certain condition, so we advise you to consult a female doctor and seek the help of Allah and mention Him much and read the Quran as much as possible as it is a healing and a cure for the Muslims as we mentioned.
Allah knows best.
