Israeli warplanes carried out two raids on the Gaza Strip early Sunday, wounding two people, Palestinian emergency services said.
The strikes were confirmed by the Israeli army.
Two people were wounded in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The other raid, on the Jabaliya refugee camp north of Gaza City, did not result in any casualties.
A security official for Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement that controls Gaza, said the northern strike hit an airfield that Hamas uses for military training. The second strike hit an old house in central Gaza, he said.
The Israeli army said attacks were "in response to a projectile fired at the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council" on Saturday. The projectile caused no injuries.
Palestinian fighters say fire rockets into Israel are in response to the Jewish state's decades of occupation on Palestinian lands. These incidents usually do not lead any casualties.
The renewed tensions come two years after Israel's devastating war against Gaza.
