GAZA CITY, (Islamweb & News Agencies) -The Palestnian Authority on Sunday outlawed the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) which claimed responsibility for the assassination of Israeli tourism minister Rehavam Zeevi.
In a statement published in Gaza City, the Palestinian High council on national security declared as "outlaw, any group which, in the name of Abu Ali Mustafa, carried out suspect actions which harmed the supreme interest of our people and gave Israel the opportunity to intensify its repression of our people."(Read photo caption below)
The armed wing of the PFLP claimed the October 17 assassination of Zeevi, who heads an Israeli far-right party, in revenge for the August slaying of their leader Abu Ali Mustafa. The armed wing had then taken the name of "Martyrs of Abu Ali Mustafa."
This council, which groups the heads of the various Palestinian security services, met Sunday night in Gaza City and was chaired by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
The move, met one Israeli demand. Israel has demanded the Authority hand over those involved in Zeevi's killing, that it outlaw groups it defines as terrorist and that it arrest militants on a most-wanted list.
A Palestinian security official said Israeli authorities had arrested four Palestinians suspected of involvement in killing Zeevi, who sought the ``transfer'' of Arabs from the biblical Land of Israel, which includes the West Bank.
Israel has clamped a blackout on its investigation of the assassination.
Israeli maintained its stranglehold on six Palestinian cities on Monday, saying its biggest ground offensive against the Palestinian Authority was aimed at pressuring, but not toppling, President Yasser Arafat.
Four Palestinians were killed on Sunday in further bloodshed in the wake of the assassination last Wednesday of a far-right Israeli cabinet minister by radical Palestinian gunmen.
