Jordanian Airliner Delay in UAE as Bomb Found-CNN
A Royal Jordanian passenger plane due to leave Abu Dhabi was delayed when a man tried to board the plane with a bomb, CNN reported on Sunday. Jordanian and Abu Dhabi authorities were questioning a man who may have had a bomb, CNN reported. Airline sources said the man was behaving suspiciously. He was detained and was found to have a bomb.
There were no further details available, including the man's nationality, CNN said.

Abu Dhabi airport had canceled all incoming and outgoing flights for the time being, a witness at the airport said.

Abu Dhabi authorities declined comment and said they would issue a statement later on Sunday.

The Royal Jordanian Air flight originated in Amman, Jordan and was stopping over at Abu Dhabi before continuing on to Dubai, its final destination, the witness said.

The incident occurred at a time of rising tension in the Gulf region as the United States threatens military action against Iraq if it does not disarm.

Two alleged operatives from the al Qaeda network of Osama bin Laden were arrested in Jordan earlier this month on suspicion of killing an American diplomat in Amman in October.

The United States has asked Gulf Arab states for cooperation in its war on terrorism since the September 11, 2001, attacks in New York and Washington.
