Hours after the attack at the internationally illegal settlement of Otniel, a "car bomb" exploded in Jerusalem, injuring the man believed to have set it off by igniting two gas balloons inside the vehicle.

Two Palestinian resistance men opened fire in a cafeteria at an internationally illegal Jewish settlement on Friday, killing four settlers before Israeli occupation soldiers shot and killed the two men.

According to occupation army sources the second assailant fled the settlement of Otniel near the West Bank city of Hebron and was shot dead by occupation soldiers who gave chase.

The attack came at the end of a day of Palestinian anger over Israel's killing of eight Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Wednesday and Thursday. A Palestinian resistance rally echoed cries for revenge at the funerals.

Palestinians in Hebron and three nearby villages were put under Israeli occupation army curfew after the attack.

ISLAMIC JIHAD CLAIMS ATTACK

The Palestinian resistance Jihad group's official Abdullah Shahmi told Reuters it carried out the attack in retaliation for Israel's killings.

Palestinian resistance groups have often targeted internationally illegal Jewish settlements during their fight for statehood and against Israeli occupation in parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Palestinian Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo told Reuters: "This (Otniel attack) is the result of Israel's assassination policy and the killing of Palestinian civilians."

Earlier on Friday, mourners in Palestinian cemeteries and speakers at a fiery rally organized by Hamas resistance activists demanded vengeance for a Palestinian killed by Israeli occupation troops in Gaza on Wednesday and seven others killed in what the occupation army called a sweep for resistance activists in the West Bank on Thursday.

"They should not feel safe," Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin said of Israelis at a Gaza City rally marking the 15th anniversary of the founding of the group, which has carried out dozens of resistance bombings since the start of the Palestinian uprising.
