Thousands of anti-war protesters have converged on central London. They are demanding an end to the US and British occupation of Iraq. It is the first rally to take place in the capital since the fall of Saddam Hussein.
Similar protests are taking place around the world, including France, Greece, Germany, Spain, Canada, Australia and the United States.
Organizers of the London march say it is well timed, coinciding with the end of the Hutton inquiry, a probe they say showed Downing Street manipulated information to go to war with Iraq.
The British Prime Minister lost public trust as a result of the war. A new poll published in British daily the Financial Times shows that 50 per cent of people questioned think Tony Blair should resign.
Back in February the streets of London came to a standstill when a huge protest attracted about a million people. It came about a month before the start of the war and drew worldwide attention.
