Khaalid ibn Al-Waleed ibn Al-Mugheerah ibn ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him:

His nickname is Abu Sulaymaan Al-Makhzoomi, and he is the nephew of Maymoonah bint Al-Haarith, may Allah be pleased with her, the Mother of the Believers. He was known as the sword of Allah and His Messenger. He accepted Islam after the treaty of Al-Hudaybiyah, witnessed Mu'tah, and was given the leadership over the armies at the time of the Prophet, sallallaahu `àlayhi wa sallam. After the death of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) he fought against the apostates and Musaylimah, and conquered Iraq. He witnessed the battles in Ash-Shaam, and hiscommendable acts are uncountable. Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, appointed him as the general leader of all armies. He blockaded Damascus and conquered it with Abu ‘Ubaydah, may Allah be pleased with him. He lived to the age of sixty years, and died in Hims in twenty-one A.H.

Haatib ibn ‘Amr, may Allah be pleased with him:

He is Haatib ibn ‘Amr ibn ‘Abd Shams ibn ‘Abdood ibn Naddar ibn Malik ibn Hasl ibn ‘Aaamir ibn Lu'ayy, the brother of Suhayl ibn ‘Amr. He accepted Islam before the Prophet's entrance to the house of Al-Arqam ibn Abi Al-Arqam. He witnessed the Battle of Badr and undertook the two Hijrahs (emigrations) to Al-Habashah, and he was the first one who reached there in the first Hijrah.

Zayd ibn Thaabit ibn Adh-Dhahhaak ibn Zayd Al-Bukhari Al-Ansaari Al-Khazraji, may Allah be pleased with him:

He was eleven years old when the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), came to Madeenah, yet he witnessed Uhud and the battles following it, and it is said that the Battle of the Trench was the first battle he witnessed. He is one of the Companions' jurists, and one of those who collected the Quran in the time of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). It is narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), praised him by saying: "Zayd is the person most knowledgeable about inheritance." [At-Tirmithi, Ibn Maajah, Al-Albaani: Saheeh]

He used to transcribe the revelation and letters for the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), and also wrote for Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, in their caliphates. ‘Umar and ‘Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with them, appointed him over Madeenah when they going for Hajj, and he accompanied  ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, when he went to Ash-Shaam. He was also the one who was appointed to distribute the booty of the Battle of Yarmook. He was in charge of the state treasury in the time of ‘Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with him.

Al-Bukhari related that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), asked him to learn the language of Jews so that he could read their letters to him, and he managed to learn it within two weeks. Moreover, he was the one who wrote the Quran in the times of Abu Bakr and ‘Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with them. He died in Madeenah, it is said in the years forty-five, forty-two, forty-three, fifty-one, fifty-two, or fifty-five A.H. due to the difference in opinions, and Marwaan ibn Al-Hakam prayed the funeral prayer over him. When he died Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "Today the scholar of this nation died, and may Allah make Ibn Abbaas his successor."

Sa‘eed ibn Al-‘Aas, may Allah be pleased with him:

He is the brother of Abaan and Khaalid. Sa‘eed ibn Sa‘eed ibn Al-‘Aas, may Allah be pleased with him, died as a martyr in At-Taa'if, and he accepted Islam shortly before the conquest of Makkah, and the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), put him in charge of the market of Makkah after the conquest. Sa‘eed ibn Al‘Aas was born in the year of Al-Hijrah, and his father died in the Battle of Badr at the hands of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him. He was one of the honorable, generous and eloquent people of the Quraysh. He was also from those who wrote the Quran for ‘Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with him, and ‘Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with him, appointed him over Koofah. He conquered Tabaristaan and Jirjaan, and he kept aloof from the bloody events after the death of `Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with him. Mu‘aawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, appointed him over Madeenah, and he died in fifty-nine A.H.

Sa‘eed ibn Al-‘Aas, may Allah be pleased with him, is mentioned by Al-Imaam Ash-Shaami may Allah have mercy upon him among the scribes of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), but this may be wrong as he was born in the year of Hijrah and he was young during the time of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). He only wrote the Quran in the time of ‘Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with him, but Ash-Shaami may have meant his uncle Sa‘eed ibn Sa‘eed ibn Al-‘Aas, may Allah be pleased with him.
