Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq, may Allah be pleased with him:
His full name is ‘Abdullaah ibn Abi Quhaafah ‘Uthmaan- ibn ‘Aamir ibn Ka‘b At-Taymi Al-Qurashi, and his nickname is Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him. He is the first man who believed in the Prophet, and he was his closest companion in his Da‘wah (invitation to Islam) and Jihaad (struggle). When the disbelievers drove the Prophet , out of Makkah, he hid with him in the cave of Thawr.
He is the father of ‘Aaishah, may Allah be pleased with her, the wife of the Prophet, , and his Caliph after his death. Besides this, he has many other outstanding traits.
He was born in Makkah, and died in Madeenah after the death of the Prophet, , after a period of two years, three months, and some days, exactly in 13 A.H.
‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, may Allah be pleased with him:
He is nicknamed Abu Hafs, Al-Faarooq (the one who can separate the truth from falsehood). He is the second rightly guided Caliph, and the first one to be given the title of Ameer Al-Mu'mineen (the Commander of the Believers). He was courageous, prudent, fair, resolute, and a great victor and Companion of the Prophet, .
In the Period of Ignorance (before Islam), ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was among the heroes of the Quraysh and their ambassador. He embraced Islam five years before the Prophet, , emigrated to Madeenah, and the Muslims took pride at his acceptance of Islam at that time. He was recognized as Caliph immediately after the death of Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, upon a recommendation from Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him. He was assassinated at the hands of Abu Lu'lu'ah the Magian, a slave of Al-Mugheerah ibn Shu‘bah. After the murder attempt, it is said that he, may Allah be pleased with him, lived for three days in which he appointed six men as councilors after him. He died in 23 A.H., and his biography and achievements are well known to everyone.
‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan, may Allah be pleased with him:
He is ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan ibn Abi Al-‘Aas Al-Umawi Al-Qurashi, the Commander of the Believers, and the third rightly guided Caliph. He was rich and honorable in the Period of Ignorance, and accepted Islam shortly after the mission of the Prophet, . He was recognized as Caliph after the death of ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, may Allah be pleased with him, in the year twenty-three A.H. During his reign, the Quran was collected in the form of one book, and many conquests took place in Asia and Africa. He is also among the ten Companions who were given the glad tidings of entering Paradise.
He is nicknamed Thun-Noorayn (the possessor of two lights), because he married Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthoom, may Allah be pleased with them both, the daughters of the Prophet, . He had many outstanding traits. He was besieged in his house for a month and assassinated on the morning of the feast of Al-Adh-ha, in the year thirty-five A.H. His martyrdom is regarded as the first sedition in the history of Islam.
‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib, may Allah be pleased with him:
He is the Commander of the Believers, the fourth rightly guided Caliph, one of the ten Companions who were given the glad tidings of entering Paradise, the cousin of the Prophet, , and his son-in-law. He is the second person to embrace Islam after the Mother of the Believers, Khadeejah, may Allah be pleased with her. He was born in Makkah, brought up by the Prophet, , and accompanied him all the time. He was entrusted with the flag of the Muslim army in many battles.
When the Prophet, paired the Muhaajireen (Emigrants) and Ansaar (Helpers) as brothers, he said to ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him: "You are my brother." He took charge of the Caliphate after the assassination of ‘Uthmaan, may Allah be pleased with him. He was an eloquent speaker, and a great scholar and judge. He was killed as a martyr in a well-known conspiracy on the seventeenth of Ramadan, in the year 40 A.H.
Talhah ibn ‘Ubayd Allah, may Allah be pleased with him:
He is Talhah ibn ‘Ubayd Allah ibn ‘Uthmaan At-Taymi Al-Qurashi Al-Makki Al-Madani, and his nickname is Abu Muhammad. He was a brave and generous Companion, and one of the ten people who were given the glad tidings of entering Paradise, and one of the six councilors appointed by ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and he is also one of the first eight forerunners of Islam. He witnessed all the battles with the Prophet, and remained firm beside him in the Battle of Uhud. He was murdered along with his son Muhammad while they were fighting beside ‘Aaishah, the Mother of the Believers, may Allah be pleased with her, on the day of Al-Jamal (the Camel), in the year thirty-six A.H. and he is buried in Basrah.
