Marrying the Hooris (maidens) in Paradise Fatwa No: 10953
- Fatwa Date:28-10-2010
What are the good deeds that qualify a Muslim to marry one of the Hooris of Paradise?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
It is outlined in the authentic Hadeeths that every man in Paradise will be married to two Hooris, but martyrs will be married to 70. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that a man in Paradise will be married to two Hooris… [Ahmad]
On the authority of Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, explained that among those who inhabit Paradise, the lowest in rank will be a man whose face will almost be touched by Hellfire, but Allaah will turn him away from it towards Paradise …. When he enters his house in Paradise, his two Houri wives will to him and say, “Praise be to Allaah who created you for us and us for you.” And he will say, “No one has been given the like of what I have been given!” [Muslim]
As for a martyr, his reward is described in the Hadeeth narrated on the authority of Al-Miqdaam ibn M‘adi Karib in which the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, explained that a martyr will be granted six bounties: one of which is that he will be married to 72 Hooris [At-Tirmithi]
Another deed rewarded by marriage to Hooris is restraint of anger. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that whoever restrains their anger when they have the ability to carry it out will be summoned by Allaah The Almighty above the heads of all creation on the Day of Judgment, and given the choice of any Hooris he pleases. [At-Tirmithi]
Thus, whoever wishes to win the Hooris should make efforts to pursue the means that will admit him to Paradise, such as faith, good deeds, Jihaad, martyrdom and having good morals.
And Allaah Knows best.
