All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Masturbation is forbidden for the evidence mentioned in Fatwa 81150; comparing it to sweat is a wrong comparison. The secretion of sweat is usually beneficial for the body as it perspires some fluids that are harmful to the body like excess salt. As regards ejaculating through masturbation, then it harms the body; the specialists in the field mentioned some of its harms and we clarified them in the above-referred Fatwa. It is enough evidence that it is harmful that the Sharee’ah prohibited it. Indeed, what is forbidden in Sharee’ah is absolutely harmful or mostly harmful.
In any case, you did well by stopping this evil practice after you became aware of its prohibition. We advise you to take the initiative to marry if you are not married and observe fasting if you are not able to marry. Moreover, you should keep company with righteous people and keep yourself busy with what benefits you in your religion and in your worldly life.
As regards what you mentioned about wet dreams, if you ask whether or not this could be a sound reason for masturbating, then the answer is no. However, if performing Ghusl harms you, then this is another matter. If a Muslim is harmed by using water, he may perform Tayammum (dry ablution); however, it should be a real harm and not an imaginary one.
For more benefit on the cases when it is permissible to perform Tayammum, please refer to Fataawa 82337 and 83735.
Allaah Knows best.
