Put his hand on the Quran and said he would not talk to someone ever Fatwa No: 131336
- Fatwa Date:14-1-2010
Assalamalykum, One of my friend had put his hand on quran and said he would not talk to someone ever, but he broke this promise because it was very important for him to atleast communicate something very important to the one he said he will never talk. Please advice if his saying something with quran in his hand valid as per islam. Also what does he have to do to repent if it was a sin.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Putting the hand on the Mus-haf is not considered a vow, and it does not necessitate an expiation or the like; for more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 82501.
However, it should be mentioned that it is not permissible for a Muslim to desert his Muslim brother more than three nights unless he has a sound reason as confirmed in the Sunnah. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 86090 and 84976.
Allaah Knows best.
