Referring to 'Halaal' as Allaah's Brand Fatwa No: 136504
- Fatwa Date:7-6-2010
salamu alikum my brother i HAVE SEEN AN ADVERT SAYING MISSION STATEMENT: TO BUILD ALLAH`S BRAND `HALAL` ACCORDING TO THE QURAN AND SUNNAH . ARE WE ALLOWED TO SAY: ALLAH`S BRAND ? JAZAKOMO ALLAH KHIR
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
There is no doubt that making things lawful or unlawful belongs to the wise Sharee’ah as it is Allaah who decides that as Allaah Says (what means): {And Allaah decides; there is no adjuster of His decision.}[Quran 13:41] Allaah also Says (what means): {Say (O Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, to these polytheists): "Tell me, what provision Allaah has sent down to you! And you have made of it lawful and unlawful." Say (O Muhammad): "Has Allaah permitted you (to do so), or do you invent a lie against Allaah?"}[Quran 10:59]
In principle, using the term “Allaah’s Brand” to refer to the word ‘Halaal’ (lawful) is correct with regard to its general meaning, meaning that it is the Islamic brand. However, with regard to its wording, it is not appropriate to say it about Allaah, so its use is not proper about Him; rather, the term “Islamic Brand” should be used instead.
Allaah Knows best.
