Question

Salamalaikum,I am a muslim who works in a company that does halal business but unfortunately and regrettably I don't keep beards and I do isbaal which I plan to avoid later in the future insha Allah. Is it permissible to consider my job haram because I don't know if the company I work for would agree to keep me as a staff when I begin practising the sunna. Do I base my judgement on the most likely scenario or do I apply the islamic principle of doubt isn't removed by uncertainty..How do I relate my question to the hadith of the prophet?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds.  I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, may Allaah reward you for being keen on abiding by the Sunnah and following the guidance of the Prophet . So, we ask Allaah to grant you success, enable you to do good and reward you with Paradise.

You should immediately let your beard grow and avoid wearing clothes (trousers) below the ankle. Shaving the beard is forbidden as we clarified in Fataawa 84474 and 82143. Wearing clothes below the ankle is also not permissible even though it is without pride according to the preponderant opinion of the jurists ; for more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 81978 and 86477.

Therefore, you should not take into consideration any whispers that may prevent you from abiding by what we mentioned. Allaah Says (what means): {… And whoever fears Allaah—He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect.}[Quran 65:2-3]

With regard to this job, then if it is in principle lawful as you mentioned, then earning from it is not forbidden whether or not you abide by letting your beard grow and not wearing clothes below the ankle.

Allaah Knows best.
