Signs for recognizing magicians Fatwa No: 18831
- Fatwa Date:10-11-2007
I went to a jurist who said that I was spellbound and that one of our relatives had hidden a spell in our house. So, he gave me incense and water to use in a bath on Friday when the Imaam stands ready for the prayer. What should I do? Can I treat myself like this? How?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
The person you went to is not a jurist, he is a sorcerer. The signs of this are as follows:
In general, what you must do now is to repent and regret going to the sorcerer and seek the forgiveness of Allaah, as this is a grave major sin.
As for magic spells, it should be noted that most people who complain of them are deluded, experiencing doubts and victims of satanic whisperings. They are not really spellbound. If the person was really under a spell, they must seek treatment using Ruqyah. A person can treat himself without the need for others. For more benefit on this regard, you may refer to Fatwa 88660.
Allaah Knows best.
