Holding a 'Hijab Day' Fatwa No: 198617
- Fatwa Date:26-2-2013
Assalaam alaikum, people have started something called Hijab Day, Do we describe it as an innovation or or do we categorize this as a means of dawah, like the week of sheikh muhammad bin abdul wahab(may Allaah have mercy on him)
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
If the purpose is setting a particular day during which some activities are held to promote awareness about the importance of Hijab, and that lectures are given by some Daa’iyahs (callers to Islam) to encourage the Muslim women to wear it, then apparently – and Allaah Knows best – there is no harm in that.
However, this should not be taken as a habit; rather, it should be sometimes held and sometimes left, so that the common Muslims would not believe that it is a Sunnah.
Allaah Knows best.
