All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. If the total of these drops is less than one day and one night, then it is not considered as menses according to the view of the majority of the scholars who are of the opinion that the minimum period of menses is one day and one night; whereas the Maaliki School of Fiqh is of the view that there is no minimum duration for menses. According to the majority view, in case the totality of the drops lasted for one day and one night, then if the period of these drops exceeds 15 days, it becomes clear that you have Istihaadhah (bleeding outside your monthly period). In this case, it is an obligation upon you to count the days of your regular menses as your monthly period and whatever exceeds this duration is considered as Istihaadhah.
If you do not have a definite number of days for your menses, then whatever you distinguish as bleeding of menses by its color, smell and thickness along with the pain that accompanies it when it comes out, then consider it as menses and whatever exceeds it, consider it as Istihaadhah.
If you cannot distinguish the bleeding of menses, then you should stay six or seven days, according to what you consider to be more likely, when you see the bleeding and count it as menses and whatever exceeds it is considered as Istihaadhah.
3) When the days that you consider as menses finish, then you should perform Ghusl and pray and do everything that women who are pure can do. You should wash yourself from these drops of blood, and if they are continuous, then you should perform ablution after the time of the prayer begins and pray with this ablution the obligatory prayer and whatever you wish of supererogatory prayers. You should do so at the time of every obligatory prayer.
Based on what we have mentioned, you have to make up the prayers that you missed due to believing that you were in menses. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 192925 and 145201.
Allaah Knows best.
