All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
There is neither day nor night in Paradise because the light of Paradise is permanent and everlasting. This was mentioned by Al-Qurtubi who explained that the people of Paradise know it is night time when the veils are drawn and the doors are closed, and they know it is daytime when the veils are pulled back and the doors are opened. This was mentioned by Abu Al-Faraj Ibn Al-Jawzi . In his commentary on the verse (which means): {They will not hear therein any ill speech -“only [greetings of] peace -“and they will have their provision therein, morning and afternoon. That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allaah.} [Quran 19:62-63], Ibn Katheer mentioned that the verse is not suggesting that there will be real day and night in Paradise; rather successive times that are indicated by lights and signals.
Ibn Taymiyyah said that in Paradise, there is neither the sun nor the moon and there is neither day nor night, but the people of Paradise will still be able to identify the time by a light that comes from the direction of the Throne. This is supported by the verse where Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.} [Quran 76:13] Since night is the time for rest and relaxation, and the people of Paradise live in permanent rest unblemished by fatigue, then there is no need for night in Paradise Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.} [Quran 15:48]
Allaah Know best.
