Soundness of creed rests on belief in the Divine Revelation Fatwa No: 34148
- Fatwa Date:7-3-2012
Belief in the Divine Revelation is the basis for all aspects of Islam. Would you shed light on this statement?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Belief in the Divine Revelation is the basis for belief in the matters of the Unseen. This is because our belief in the existence of angels, Hell and the torment of the grave is based on our belief in the Divine Revelation, which is the only source of such information. Likewise, belief in the Divine Revelation is the reason behind surrendering to the commands of Allaah The Almighty and abiding by His prohibitions. Therefore, it is indisputable that the entire Islamic creed is based upon belief in the Divine Revelation.
Islamic acts of worship and acceptance of Sharee'ah rulings are the fruits of Muslims’ belief in the Divine Revelation. A person who does not believe in the Divine Revelation does not believe in Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and in his message.
Therefore, Allaah the Exalted supported His prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention, with miracles and astonishing signs that proved the truthfulness of the Divine Revelation. When contemplating these miracles and signs, it is inevitable that a person has to believe in Allaah The Almighty, unless he is one of those who are too proud to concede this. In this regard Allaah the Almighty Says (what means):
• {And indeed, they do not call you untruthful, but it is the verses of Allaah that the wrongdoers reject.} [Quran 6: 33]
• {And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters.} [Quran 27: 14]
Allaah Knows best.
