Assalaamu alaykum. There is a sister who asks if its permissible to have a decoration at home that consists of two wings (without any animal attached to the wings) and hang it in the home. May Allaah bless you for your answer.

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

There is nothing wrong with the presence of a decoration in the form of two wings or two legs, nor with hanging it at home.

The scholars have stated that there is nothing wrong in keeping an image that lacks a part that is essential for its life, and without which life would be impossible.

Ibn Qudaamah said, "If something is cut off from it which would not keep the animal alive after it is cut off, such as the chest or abdomen, or if its head is separate from its body, then this does not fall under the prohibition, because the image does not remain after this thing is cut off it, so it is like cutting off the head.” [Al-Mughni]
