One Does Not Become a Disbeliever because of Missing a Prayer Fatwa No: 420676
- Fatwa Date:1-6-2020
Assalam u Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu. I would like to ask you regarding a person's situation. This person had gone to hajj Alhamdulillah and after coming back he recieved money as gifts from various family or friends. Is it permissible that he uses this money in his daily life or to start a business and etc. Secondly after this person returned from Hajj he had been determined not to evee miss a prayer beyond its time but in certain situations either he overslept over became very close on the edge to missing a prayer in that he fears he has missed a prayer purposefully and could have become (MAY ALLAH PROTECT US ALL FOREVER) a major kafir and indeed he repented and kept on saying the shahadah and his intention was never to miss the prayer ever but sometimes it occured and he repeated his shahadah and returned and repented. Is this persons hajj cancelled and he has to go again? Jazak Allahu Khairan
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The money that was gifted to this person has become his personal property, and it is permissible for him to dispose of it and spend it in whatever lawful way he wishes.
He bears no sin for missing the prayer due to oversleeping. However, if he deliberately delays the prayer until its prescribed time expires, it is a grave sin and he has to repent of it. Nevertheless, this does not invalidate his Hajj, and his repentance erases the sin he committed. He is not a Kaafir (disbeliever) due to missing that prayer.
Allah Knows best.
