No Harm for Women to Go Out for Preaching to Allah (To Do Da’wah) Fatwa No: 472675
- Fatwa Date:15-3-2023
Assalam alikum I was just wondering is it allowed for a wife to do street dawah with her husband or son etc
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
There is nothing wrong for a woman to go out for preaching to Allah (Da’wah), if she abides by the Islamic guidelines, such as wearing Hijab and observing decency and proper etiquette. The preaching to Allah is not limited to men without women.
The women are included in the general address commanding enjoining good; Allah Says (what means): {And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.} [Quran 3:104]
It is permissible for a woman to preach the truth to men provided she observes the previous guidelines. However, it is preferable that she preaches to women, and leaves the matter of preaching to men for men, as this is more cautious and safer for her Hereafter and far from the causes of temptation.
Sheikh Ibn Baz spoke eloquently on this subject in an answer to the question about women and the call to Allah? He said: “She is like a man, she has her duty to preach to Allah and deny evil, because the teachings apply to everyone, the Quran applies to everyone, the Sunnah applies to everyone, and the statements of the scholars apply to everyone. She must call to Allah, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, according to the Islamic decency that is required of a man. She must also be an example in chastity, and in observing Hijab from non-Mahram men, and avoiding displaying her beauty and reprehensible mixing. Her preaching should be far from anything that would denounce her acts. If she preaches men, she calls them while wearing Hijab and without being alone with them…” [End of quote – Summarized]
Allah knows best.
