Question

assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah, is it permissible for a women to model on different abayas for small abaya companies for photoshoots to be posted on social media marketing even with her face being covered?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

If this work adheres to the Shariah guidelines, ensuring that the clothing meets the requirements for a Muslim woman’s dress - meaning it is neither tight enough to reveal the contours of her body nor transparent enough to show her charms, or anything similar - then there is no harm in advertising this clothing. Additionally, publishing a picture of the woman is permissible as long as she is properly covered.

This view is based on the basic permissibility of such actions. However, we recommend caution, especially if the company involved is not trustworthy, due to the risk of image manipulation, particularly with the use of photo editing software like Photoshop.

Allah knows best.
