No doubt that all humans will die and pass over Hell Fatwa No: 53028
- Fatwa Date:27-12-2012
Is there any Hadeeth or verse that states that every person will come to Hell? I discussed this issue with my family. They said to me that every soul will die and come to Hell, is that correct?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
It is a well-established fact that all people will come to Hell and that everyone will die. Both of these facts are mentioned in the Noble Quran. As for the first one, Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed.}[Quran 19:71]
As for the second one, Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Every soul will taste death.}[Quran 21:35]
The scholars of Tafseer hold different views concerning the issues of coming to Hell mentioned in the first verse:
First, this verse means entering Hell in the real sense of the word. However, it will be coolness and safety for the believers.
Second, what is meant is passing over the Siraat not entering Hell in the real sense.
The second opinion is more correct and it is substantiated with the Hadeeth narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim in which the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “Then the bridge will be laid across Hell and intercession will be permitted. The Messengers will say, ‘O Allaah! Save us. O Allaah! Save us.’ It was said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! What is the bridge?’ He said, ‘It is a slippery (bridge) on which there are clamps, hooks, and a plant with such thorns is found in Najd and is called Al-Sa‘daan. Some of the believers will cross the bridge as quickly as the twinkling of an eye, some others as quick as lightning, a strong wind, a bird, or fast horses or she-camels. So some will be safe without any harm; some will be safe after receiving some scratches, and some will fall down into Hell.’” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Allaah Knows best.
