The Jews did not adhere to their book, let alone other Books Fatwa No: 56030
- Fatwa Date:14-2-2012
It is well-known that Prophet Daawood (David), may Allaah exalt his mention, was sent with a heavenly revealed Book that was after the demise of Prophet Moosa (Moses), may Allaah exalt his mention, and later ‘Eesa (Jesus), may Allaah exalt his mention, was also sent to them with a divine Book. So, why do the Jews adhere to the Book of Moosa even though there were other heavenly revealed Books after him? Is it possible that their current Books include some of what Daawood, may Allaah exalt his mention, brought?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Allaah The Almighty made belief in all heavenly Books obligatory and He made believing in some of them and denying some of them disbelief; the one who does this deserves a degrading and grave torment.
Allaah The Almighty Says (what means):
• {Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allaah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Ibraaheem (Abraham) and Ismaa‘eel (Ishmael) and Is-haaq (Isaac) and Ya‘qoob (Jacob) and the Descendants and what was given to Moosa (Moses) and ‘Eesa (Jesus) and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."} [Quran 2:137]
• {Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allaah and His Messengers and wish to discriminate between Allaah and His Messengers and say, "We believe in some and disbelieve in others," and wish to adopt a way in between -* Those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.} [Quran 4:150-151]
The non-adherence of the Jews to the revealed Books after Moosa is one of the aspects of their many abominable deviations. Moreover, they do not adhere completely to the revealed Book of Moosa; rather, they believe in some of it, disbelieve in some of it, conceal some of it and distort some of it.
They did not follow the Prophets who were sent to them. According to the Quran, they used to arbitrate their desires in dealing with them. Whenever a messenger came to them who did not meet their desires; he was either denied or killed.
It is possible that their Books include some of what was revealed to Daawood . However, we cannot trust in their references due to the distortion, cheating and mixing the truth with falsehood that they include. It is obligatory for us not to believe them except in matters to which our Sharee‘ah (Islamic law) testifies.
Allaah Knows best.
