What is the ruling regarding images and children? What about drawing animals for children?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

If these images are of animals, it is lawful to give them to the children to play with for ‘Aa’ishah's Hadeeth that she used to play with dolls in the presence of the Prophet and that he never objected to that. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

As for drawing animals and the like, the scholars differed in opinion on this issue, but it is better to avoid doing it as it might be among the drawings that are forbidden by Islam.
