Appointing a mediator with Allah Fatwa No: 82012
- Fatwa Date:20-4-2000
To approach almighty Allah can we appoint a sheik or waliullah? What is the fatwa regarding this issue?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Drawing close to Allaah is via worshipping Him, abiding by His orders and following the teachings of His Book and those of the Sunnah of His Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, . In fact, no one could ever approach Allaah except through what was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, as all deeds and sayings must be in conformity with what is in the Quran and the Sunnah, otherwise they are not accepted and are returned rejected to the one who performs them. Allaah Says (what means): {Whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain from it, and fear Allaah. Indeed Allaah is Severe in Punishment.}[Quran: 59: 7] Allaah also Says (what means): {And let those who oppose the Messengers command beware, lest some tribulation befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.}[Quran: 24:63] There is no way to know the Sunnah except through studying it and asking the scholars about it. No Muslim should appoint any person except the Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, as his ideal and completely reject what he forbade.
The Muslim's sayings, deeds, opinions and everything related to his/her life should be in conformity with the Sharee'ah. As for the people's opinions, tastes and experiences, they should be examined in light of the Quran and Sunnah, if they conform to them, they are accepted, otherwise they are rejected. Finally, we apologize for this short answer. If your question were clearer we would have given a more detailed answer.
Allaah Knows best.
