Removing dandruff with creams is allowed with some conditions
Fatwa No: 8245

Question

There is a certain cream that is applied to the hair so as to remove dandruff, is this considered a form of imitating women?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Dandruff is a sort of harm of which it is permissible to remove it. There is nothing wrong with using any medicine or shampoo to remove it, provided that it is not something prohibited or contains a prohibited substance such as pork fat. Accordingly, using that cream implies no imitation of women and you are allowed to use it, provided that you would remove it before performing ablution or Ghusl (ritual bath) if the cream prevents water to reach the hair or skin.

Allaah Knows best.
