Falsehood can not come to Shariah Fatwa No: 83029
- Fatwa Date:1-7-2001
Is the Shariah an interpretation of Laws of God made by men? If so, could it contain any mistake or wrong interpretation?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
If you mean by "Shariah" what is in the Qur'an and the Sunnah, then all of it is in its true and accurate and it is preserved by Allah. So falsehood can not come to it. It is not possible for falsehood to make its way into it. Allah Says: {This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.}[5:3].
He also Says: {it is an honorable, fortified respected Book. Falsehood can not come to it from before it or behind it: (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of All-Praise (Allah).}[41:42], He also Says: {Say O you mankind! Now Truth has come to you from your Lord. So whosoever receives guidance, he does so for the good of his own self, and whosoever goes astray, he does so to his own loss: and I am not (set) over you as a Wakil (disposer of affairs to oblige you for guidance)}[10:108], He also Says: about what the Prophet disposes: {Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only a Revelation revealed. Whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)}[53:3-4].
And many more verses prove or attest that the Islamic Law (Shariah) in all its meanings is correct, true, good and perfect.
But if you mean deduction of the scholars and their efforts, then there is a possibility of their being correct or wrong. When making a decision based on the evidence the duty of a Muslim who is capable of distinction, is to look for the evidence and abide by it. Then what conforms to the evidence, should be adopted and what does not conform should be rejected.
Allah knows best.
