Language used in Hereafter Fatwa No: 84276
- Fatwa Date:4-6-2002
What language will we use when we enter the Heaven, Kuboor (grave) or the Day of Judgment?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
We do not know any authentic proof from the Qur'an and Hadith that specifies the language used on the Day of Judgment.
However, there are some weak Hadith in this concern some of them are as follows:
al-Tabrani narrated in his books "al-Kabeer" and "al-Awsat", a Hadith reads: "Do love Arabs for three reasons; because I am an Arabian, the Qur'an is in Arabic and the language of inhabitants of Paradise is Arabic" . al-Haythami said in his book "Majm'a al-Zawaid": 'there is a narrator in the chain of this Hadith named al-'Alaa bin 'Amar al-Hanafi ; he is weak according to the decision of all scholars'.
al-Tabrani also narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "I am an Arabian, the Qur'an is in Arabic, and the conversation of people of Jannah is in Arabic" . It is also a weak Hadith.
Finally, we advise our questioner brother to pursue the matters that will benefit him in his religion. This kind of question does not relate to such deeds. The good ancestors disliked the questions not related to actions. The one who thinks seriously about the Day of Judgment does not bother about such questions.
Allah knows best.
