The first Muslim who conquered India Fatwa No: 84702
- Fatwa Date:21-8-2002
Please tell me the first Muslim who conquered India and the date.
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
India was first conquered by the great Muslim Hero Muhammad Ibn al-Qassem al-Thaqafi . He was one of the four most eminent heroes in the Era of Caliph al-Walid Ibn Abdul Malik . The signs of intelligence, heroism and good management appeared on Muhammad Ibn al-Qassem when he was very young. This led al-Hajjaj Ibn Yusuf , who was a governor of Iraq and the eastern regions during the Era of al-Walid , to appoint Muhammad as Emir when he was only eighteen years old. Then he gave him a large, well-equipped army to conquer the Sind region in the Indian sub-continent. Then our hero invaded this region and his very special skills in combat appeared. So, he dug trenches, set mangonels (for throwing stones) and raised flags. It is said that one of his mangonels called the bride was operated by 500 men. As a result he conquered all the Sind region and Daybel City which is 45 kilometers south east of Karachi. Then his conquests expanded to Multan in the south of Punjab region. He continued conquering more land until the death of al-Walid.
Allah knows best.
