How to get peace of mind? I always get frightened that something bad/ misfortune will happen to my family and me. I performed prayers and others regularly but still no peace. This feeling is depriving me to do alot of things and to carry on with my life. Any Du'a to help me.
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. The person does not live happily and with the peace of mind except if he/she trusts in Allah. In fact, the person who relies completely on Allah has a strong heart that is not influenced by illusions and does not fear changes of events because he/she knows, without any doubt, that anyone who trusts in Allah, Allah will suffice him/her. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): { …whosoever puts his trust in Allâh, then He will suffice him….}[65:3]. This means Allah will suffice him, support him and give him triumph. So, this promise of Allah reassures such a person. Allah also Says (interpretation of meaning) narrating on behalf of His Awliyah: {…Our Lord! In You (Alone) we put our trust, and to You (Alone) we turn in repentance, and to You (Alone) is (our) final Return,}[60:4]. Allah also Says (interpretation of meaning): addressing the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) {…and put your trust in Allâh. And Allâh is Ever AllSufficient as a Disposer of affairs.}[4:81]. So, when you realize the trust in Allah by being sincere in relying upon Him and by believing without any doubt that He is the only One Who harms, the only One Who helps, the only One Who gives, the only One Who denies and that whatever He wishes happens and whatever He does not wish does not happen, and if you return all your matters to Him with confidence that He is The Best Manager, if you achieve all that and do whatever you can from the worldly causes, then this fear will be dispelled, Insha Allah. It will even be substituted with comfort, and reassurance. Following are some of the fruits of trusting in Allah. 1. Achieving true belief. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…and put your trust in Allâh if you are believers indeed."}[5:23]. 2. The fact that Allah suffices those who trust in Him in all their matters. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…And whosoever puts his trust in Allâh, then He will suffice him….}[65:3]. Ibn Al Qayyim said: This means that Allah suffices such a person. When Allah suffices someone, then He protects him. This means that no enemy could harm that person except with an unavoidable harm like the cold/hot weather, the thirst…etc. But that the enemy should have a plan to harm him and have that plan executed, this will never happen. This is indeed a great reward. If the person trusts in Allah as best trust can be then Allah will give him way even if the sky falls on earth, Allah will suffice that person, nourish him and give him triumph . 3. Some of the strongest means to bring benefit and ward off evil. Ibn Abbas said: "Allâh (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)." was said by Ibrahim when he get thrown in Fire. It was said by Muhammad when people said to him: "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army). His saying: and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)." means Graceful is the One Who is being trusted. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…and hold fast to Allâh [i.e. have confidence in Allâh, and depend upon Him in all your affairs] He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper!}[22:78]. Ibn Al Qayyim said: He (Allah) is sufficient for the one who trusts in Him and that He suffices those who take refuge with him. He is the One Who secures the fearful and gives asylum to the One Who takes refuge with him. So, anyone who takes side with Him, seeks triumph from Him, trusts in Him and returns wholly to Him, He (Allah) protects that person, guards him/her and sustains him. And anyone who fears Him and obeys Him, He (Allah) gives him security from all that he fears and avoids, and brings to him the benefits he needs . The governor of Ifriqiya wrote to Caliph Umar Ibn Abd al-Aziz complaining about harmful crawling insects and scorpions. Umar wrote to him saying: All what each one of you should do is to say in the evening and the morning: {"And why should we not put our trust in Allâh….} [14:12]. 4. It results in making Allah love the servant. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…certainly, Allâh loves those who put their trust (in Him).}[3:159]. 5. It results in strength of the heart, its courage and its challenge of the enemies as it results in mental strength. Ibn Majah reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: And whoever feels happy with being the strongest man, he should trust in Allah… . 6. It results in being proud. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful,}[26:217]. Allah also Says (interpretation of meaning): {If Allâh helps you, none can overcome you;…}[3:160]. He also Says: {And put your trust in Allâh, and Sufficient is Allâh as a Wakîl (Trustee, or Disposer of affairs).}[33:3]. 7. It results in patience and forbearance. This is why patience is linked to trust in Allah in some Qur'anic verses. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {(They are) those who remained patient (in this world for Allâh's sake), and put their trust in their Lord (Allâh Alone).}[16:42]. He also Says: {…And we shall certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us, and in Allâh (Alone) let those who trust, put their trust."}[14:12]. 8. It results in triumph and dominance. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {If Allâh helps you, none can overcome you; …}[3:160]. Allah also Says (interpretation of meaning): {…But whoever puts his trust in Allâh, then surely, Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.}[8:49]. 9. It strengthens the resolution, determination. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allâh,…}[ 3:159]. Allah also Says (interpretation of meaning): {Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allâh has ordained for us….}[9:51]. 10. It protects from Satan's dominance. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Verily! He has no power over those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allâh).}[16:99]. In a Hadith reported by Al-Tirmizi and Ibn Majah the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: When the person leaves the door of his home two angels accompany him when he says: Bismillah. They said: "May you be guided". When he says: "La Hawla Wa la Quwata Illa Billah" (there is no might no power except with Allah). They say: "May Allah protect you". And when he says: "Tawakkaltu A'ala Allah": (Place my trust in Allah). They say: "You are sufficed". Then his two Shaytans (Satans) meet him. They (the angels) tell them: "What do you want of a man who is guided, protected and sufficed . Allah knows best.
