Islamic dress for the woman
Fatwa No: 87813

Question

Regarding the proper dress code of the Islamic dress for the woman (Hijab) are there any colours that I must wear? If I wear rings on my hand and is there a Hadith to support the answer?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Basically there is no particular colour for Hijab, in fact a woman is permitted to wear any colour which is not overly attractive.  And there is no difficulty for a woman to wear rings in her fingers, but it is among the adornments that must be concealed (hidden) as per the Saying of Allah: {And not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent.}[24:31].

We have already explained this fact that the woman's face and hands are among the woman's Awrah (Parts of the body that must be covered in Islam for a woman) and she cannot expose it to anyone except to her Mahram (unmarriageable person), family members, etc.

Allah knows best.
