Covers her face to please her father Fatwa No: 89144
- Fatwa Date:3-1-2005
I would like to know is it important to cover my face because my dad insists me to cover my face but for his happiness I do it in front of him. But behind him I don't because I feel it uncomfortable and I also know in Islam its important u cover your body and hair. I wear Burqah and Hijaab always. Just covering my f ace is a problem. Please my dad I cover my face. Is it a sin to please my father though Allaah know what I am doing is right since Islam has permitted us to keep our face open. Please kindly answer my question.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Dear sister, one should always be proud of her religion and her love of Allaah and His Prophet . Pleasing Allaah is better than pleasing His creatures.
No doubt, you will face problems when you cover your face but remember that you may become an example for many Muslim girls and you will get the reward of their guidance.
We are aware of many Muslim girls who are wearing Hijab and a face-cover in Europe and America, so isn't it better for those who are living in Muslim countries to be examples for others.
Always remember that this life is very short, and very soon everyone will stand in front of Allaah; at that time a father, mother and every one nearer and dearer will run away from their beloved ones. At that moment only our good deeds and love of Allaah will benefit us.
So, dear sister you have to obey your father and cover your face.
The scholars who allow uncovering face, set forth many conditions such as the woman should not apply any make up on her face, her beauty should not attract the opposite sex, the people in that area should be pious, etc.
In fact, most of the conditions are not met at this time. It is difficult to believe that women abide by these conditions in these days may Allaah richly reward those who do.

Allaah knows best.
