Satan worshipping Allaah
Fatwa No: 89864

Question

One time I mentioned in front a child the verse Surah 64 verse: 1.
Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the Earth glorifies Allaah. His is the Dominion, and to Him belong all the praises and thanks, and He is Able to do all things. And I explained to him how everything glorifies Allaah then the child asked me does Satan glorify Allaah too? Please can you help me with the answer?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

It appears, Allaah knows best, that the verse stated in the question is mentioned in a general context and it includes the non-Muslim Jinn and non-Muslim humans. A non-Muslim glorifies Allaah in his state of affairs meaning that he is submitting his limbs to the will of Allaah and is in His Dominion and acts according to His Predestination. Indeed, Ibn Al-'Arabi in his Tafseer of the verse in which Allaah says (which means): {The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein, glorify Him and there is not a thing but glorifies His Praise. But you understand not their glorification...}[Quran 17:44], pointed to the same meaning as explained above, when he was talking about the glorification of non-living things and animals. He finished his explanation of the above verse by mentioning another verse, Allaah says (which means): {And to Allaah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and so do their shadows in the mornings and the afternoons.}[Quran 13:15]. Then, he said: 'Even the shadow changes according to Allaah's Will, and He explained this by using the term 'prostration', which means that all these things humiliate themselves to Allaah the Exalted.'

Allaah knows best.
