Who are Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog)?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Samurah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet said: “The children of Adam (may Allah exalt his mention) are three: “Saam, the father of the Arabs, Haam, the father of the Sudanese, and Yaafith, the father of the Turks.” [Ahmad]

An-Nawawi said: “They are from the children of Aadam according to the view of the majority of the scholars, may Allah have mercy on them.”

The outstanding scholar, As-Safaareeni reported that Ibn Katheer said: “Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog) are two groups of Turks from the offspring of Aadam .” Then he added: “They are from the offspring of Nooh (Noah) from the progeny of Yaafith, the father of the Turks.”
