Was the whole Quran interpreted during the reign of the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam?

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger as well as that of his family and all his companions.  

The Quran was not all interpreted during the reign of the Prophet . He only interpreted for the companions that which they did not understand. The reason why the Quran was not all interpreted during the reign of the Prophet was that the companions were pure Arabs and the Quran was revealed in their language, so they had no need for its full interpretation. The Quran was interpreted at later times when the languages were all mixed up because of the Islamic conquests. Hence, the people needed to understand all its meaning, consequently, the scholars wrote books on its interpretation and interpreted it verse by verse.
