Israeli Raids Kill Palestinian in Gaza

Israeli raids in the Palestinian territories have left two people dead, including a 13-year-old boy killed in an air strike on Gaza.

In a separate incident soldiers shot dead a Palestinian fighter during an arrest raid near the West Bank town of Jenin on Sunday.

Israeli forces also detained a Palestinian parliamentarian in the West Bank, the second member of parliament arrested in 24 hours.

Fadel Hamdan, a Hamas lawmaker, was detained after two dozen Israeli jeeps surrounded the part of Ramallah where he was based.

Earlier on Sunday, Aziz Dwiek, the speaker of the Palestinian parliament and a member of Hamas, was detained by Israeli forces in Ramallah.

Ismail Haniya, the Palestinian prime minister, said in response to Dweik's arrest: "We condemn and reject this Israeli piracy."

Israel's ongoing Gaza offensive has killed at least 167 Palestinians, more than half of them civilians.

The head of Palestinian military intelligence was also killed on Sunday, but during internal violence between Palestinians, security sources said.

A fourth Palestinian man was killed early on Monday while driving near the West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian security sources and medics said.

An unidentified attacker opened fire on his car, killing the 47-year-old man and wounding his 17-year-old son.
