Eight people have been killed in a suicide bombing near the city of Ramadi, in Iraq's Anbar province, west of Baghdad, Iraqi police say.
Several policemen were among the dead. At least 14 other people were injured.
Separately, the US military said an al-Qaeda leader named Abu Ghazwan had been killed in a raid north of Baghdad.
He was said to have been shot dead during clashes between fighters and US-backed Iraqi forces near the town of Tarmiyah, in Salahuddin province.
The suicide bombing took place either at a police station outside Ramadi or at a highway checkpoint, according to different reports.
