Four people have been killed and one more is missing after a landslide in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital.
Up to 5,000 residents are expected to be asked to leave their homes because the ground is still unstable.
The landslide was on Bukit Antarabangsa, a hillside housing estate, and occurred just before dawn on Saturday.
A police official said that rescuers had recovered the bodies of one Indonesian woman and three Malaysians. Fifteen people have been injured and 14 houses buried.
More than 500 police, army and medical personnel were deployed for search-and-rescue operations.
The cause of the landslide was not immediately known and an investigation was initiated to find out whether it was due to negligence or recent rains.
Several landslides have caused damage in and around Kuala Lumpur in recent years. They are usually blamed on rapid development, deforestation and poor maintenance of drainage systems.
Najib Razak, Malaysia's deputy prime minister, said the government would no longer issue permits for hillside developments.
