Israeli troops have killed a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank, a military spokeswoman and Palestinian security sources have said.
Palestinian witnesses said undercover troops shot at Jihad Nwada, a fighter from the Islamic Jihad group while he was outside a shop in the village of Yamoun, near the town of Jenin on Tuesday.
He died of his wounds.
Palestinian witnesses say Nwada was leaving an internet cafe near the town of Jenin when the Israeli troops arrived.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said the troops had gone to arrest Nwada and that he was suspected of planning to carry out an attack in the Jenin area.
She said the troops opened fire when he tried to flee.
Israeli soldiers frequently raid hideouts in the West Bank, although lethal confrontations have been rare in recent weeks.
In a statement, the Israeli army said troops arrested 22 Palestinian fighters in raids in the West Bank overnight.
