Sweden's Foreign Minister, Anna Lindh, has been seriously injured in a knife attack. She was wounded in the chest, stomach and arms.
The high profile politician, tipped as a possible future prime minister, has undergone surgery for her injuries. Following the attack, Swedish Premier Goran Persson announced his government's Euro campaign is to be halted.
He also said security is to be stepped up around government buildings. Anna Lindh was stabbed in a department store this afternoon, her attacker is on the run.
She has been one of the most outspoken 'Yes' campaigners on the Euro, but it is not known if the attack was politically motivated.
A referendum on the single currency is due to take place on Sunday.
