Israel has carried out air attacks in south Lebanon, a day after an Israeli soldier died in the region.
Lebanese army and well-informed security sources said the planes attacked areas around Zibqin and Mazrat Aalman villages in the south of the country on Tuesday.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Israeli military officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they had attacked Hizb Allah bases in the area.
In all, three air-to-surface missiles were fired in the two air raids, said Lebanese officials, who also spoke on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, Lebanese President Emile Lahud said that a United Nations investigation had found that an Israeli military bulldozer hit by a Hizb Allah rocket was within south Lebanon at the time of the strike.
"The investigation carried out by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) command has shown that the Israeli bulldozer was inside Lebanese territory," said Lahud in a statement on Tuesday. It came a day after an Israeli soldier died within the vehicle after the resistance group struck near the southern village of Marwahin.
"And this constitutes a clear violation of the Blue Line," said Lahud, referring to the demarcation line marked out by UNIFIL when Israel withdrew forces from south Lebanon following a 22-year occupation in May 2000. Hizb Allah spearheaded the efforts to oust Israel.
But a well-informed security source said the investigation was not complete.
An Israeli army spokesman had earlier claimed that the bulldozer was on Israeli soil. There was no immediate confirmation from UNIFIL of its findings.
Lahud also recalled that Israel had killed two Lebanese civilians last month because they were suspected of being close to the Blue Line.
Lebanon maintained that the two slain men were hunters and were on its side of the border.
Monday's flare-up followed a sharp escalation of Israeli intrusions into Lebanon's airspace which drew retaliatory fire from Hizb Allah and a stern rebuff from UN peacekeepers.
**Tension***
Tensions are high along the volatile border as UN forces stepped up patrols, fearing more trouble after Israel threatened military action, despite the UN's findings.
Peacekeepers in armoured vehicles backed up by a helicopter on Tuesday were patrolling the area around the scene of the intrusion.
The commander of Israel's northern border region, General Benny Gantz, warned the incident would not be overlooked.
**Israelis shoot deaf and dumb woman***
A deaf and dumb Palestinian woman was wounded by Israeli gunfire in the northern West Bank yesterday after she failed to respond to soldiers' shouts.
Halima Rajeh Bari, 38, was injured when troops opened fire in her direction near the village of Saniria which lies to the east of Qalqilya, said sources.
The woman, who was on her way to a greenhouse near the Jewish settlement of Shaari Tikva, was taken to an Israeli hospital.
The army said the woman was breaking a curfew imposed on Saniria to prevent attackers from infiltrating into Israel after a spate of warnings about planned Palestinian attacks.
