Five Israeli soldiers, among them two senior officers with the rank of colonel, were wounded Thursday when Palestinian fighters detonated a roadside bomb near the jeep in which the occupation troops were travelling, close to the Gaza Strip settlement of Morag. One of the officers lost his legs at a result of the blast. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack. Earlier, Israeli soldiers killed at least 10 Palestinians, including a woman, while another Israeli soldier was wounded during a fierce gun battle in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian security officials and Israeli sources said. Witnesses said two of the dead were affiliated with Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades. Palestinian security officials said that Nahedh Abu Oda was an activist in Hamas and he was killed in an exchange of fire, which came after Palestinian fighters ambushed occupation troops during the raid. Palestinian medical sources said Israeli soldiers prevented paramedics from evacuating the victims, holding three ambulances carrying wounded. According to them, Abu Oda was wounded and bled to death, because the Israelis prevented the paramedics from evacuating him, an hospital official in Beit Hanoun, said. Some 20 people were injured. Also in the Strip, a Palestinian girl was critically wounded and three others were moderately wounded Thursday when Israeli forces raided civilian houses in the western refugee camp of Khan Younis City, southern the Gaza Strip, witnesses and Palestinian medical sources said. Witnesses said that seven Israeli tanks and three military bulldozers under a cover of combating helicopters, moved from the Jewish settlement of "Neveh Dekalim", opened fire on houses, wounding 4 civilians, including a 10-year old girl. Medics at Nasser Hospital told WAFA that the child Maisaa Abu Rizq 10, was critically shot with a live gunshot in the right arm, resulting in a severe bleeding. They added that another man, named Naef al-Zarady 55 was shot with a shrapnel allover his body. In another military escalations, Israeli heavy bulldozers completely demolished more than 25 houses and ten others partially at al-Barabkha area western the said refugee camp of Khan Younis, Palestinian security sources said.
