Al-Qaradawi Accuses Humanitarian Organisations in Darfur of Conspiring against Muslims
Muslim scholar Sheikh Yousuf Al-Qaradawi has accused the international humanitarian organisations working in Darfur, in western Sudan, of conspiring against Muslims in that part of the country. Delivering the Friday sermon at Al Shohdaa Mosque in Khartoum, Sheikh Al-Qaradawi accused the West of plotting against the Muslims, especially in Darfur. "We are waging a big battle with our enemies," Al-Qaradawi said and described the battle as military, political and religious. He said the non-government organisations are taking up the humanitarian work in Darfur in an attempt to convert the Muslims to Christianity. He called upon the Muslim countries to mobilise all resources to help the people of Darfur. Sheikh Al-Qaradawi also called upon the Muslims in Darfur not to fight each other, which would enable the enemies of the 'Umma' (Muslim nation) to benefit from the conflict, and used it as an excuse to interfere in Sudan's internal affairs. Al-Qaradawi, a Sunni scholar, arrived in Sudan on Thursday at a head of a delegation of Muslim scholars in a bid to mediate between Khartoum and the Sudanese rebels in Darfur. **PHOTO CAPTION*** Dr. Yousuf Al-Qaradawi.
