A car bomb has exploded in north-central Baghdad, killing six people, about 25 minutes after another car bomb blew up near the capital's Australian embassy, an interior ministry official said.
The explosion at 0735 local time (0435 GMT) on Wednesday happened near the Al-Andalus traffic circle at the edge of the Baghdad neighbourhood of Karrada and killed six people, the official said.
The earlier explosion outside the embassy's concrete barriers in the central Jadiriyah district occurred at about 0700 local time (0400 GMT).
"No Australian personnel have been injured," an Australian foreign affairs spokeswoman said in Canberra.
The embassy did not suffer any damage, although windows were blown out in the staff residence, the official said, adding that it was too early to say if the embassy was the target of the bombing.
Australia moved its embassy into Baghdad's "green zone", the heavily fortified precinct that is home to the interim government and US authorities, last year.
