Obligations of the caller to Allaah Fatwa No: 16419
- Fatwa Date:5-10-2010
I want to serve Islam; what should I do?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
You should know that any Muslim who wants to serve the religion of Islam has to fulfil the Sharee‘ah requirements that it entails. According to Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Al-Wahhaab a Muslim has to observe the following:
First, to know Allaah The Almighty, the Prophet and the religion of Islam with sound evidences.
Second, to practise what he has learned.
Third, to call others to practise what he knows.
Fourth, to be patient when any harm is inflicted on him due to his commitment to the religion.
Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {By time, Indeed, mankind is in loss, Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.}[Quran 103:1-3]
Ash-Shafi'i mentioned that if no chapter other than this had been revealed, it would have sufficed people.
If you have already acquired the obligatory knowledge about Islam and how to practise it, you should call others to it provided that you are fortified with wisdom and insight. You should also be able to continue patiently and remain unshaken by trials.
And Allaah Knows best.
